What We Teach
Classes typically focus on the Torah portion of the week. Lecturers will discuss ideas and concepts central to Judaism and principles of Jewish law that can be learned from that week’s portion.
Generous segments of the class may be devoted to basic Jewish history, philosophy, theology and Torah law.
In the weeks preceding a festival, teachers will often discuss the background and significance of the holiday. They will also teach the practices and customs associated with the festival.
In addition, CFR lecturers have the latitude to teach whatever they feel will enhance the group’s understanding and appreciation of Torah.
